The Scottish Amateur Swimming Association, in conjunction with the Amateur Swimming Federation of Great Britain are tightening up on their anti doping procedures.
You will be affected if you reach finals in National competitions. At these competitions, currently, medal winners are subject to random urine tests. It is important therefore for swimmers to be aware of the rules from an early age.
Drugs and other substances fall into three categories
Restricted substances include all asthma medication. The regulations regarding this are that each swimmer must fill in an annual medication declaration form, to be returned to the ASFGB. If tested they must state what medication they have taken in the previous week. They may later be required to produce a supporting letter from their GP.
Anti doping information cards are to be distributed to Squad members. Medication declaration forms are available from David Booth, treasurer.David Booth is the Doc for Midlands Swimming if you have questions or worries.
